A high-level workshop run jointly with Action for Market Towns and hosted by Co-Operative Estates in London in September 2012. The event examined the challenges for small towns in the face of trends in the retail industry which have tended to focus demand for new floorspace in larger centres and with significant permissions for out-of-centre supermarkets still pending. How is the NPPF ‘Town Centre First’ policy being interpreted in the small town context, and what support do small towns need to remain competitive?
A special edition of NRPF’s newsletter Retail Forum summarises the event
